The average increase in corn yield as a result of using NutriGROW fertilizer was 17.1 bu. per acre when compared to a conventional system. Average dollar cost benefit was in excess of $43 per acre while using Carbotech's NutriGROW system.

Field Observations:

THESE ARE WRITTEN OBSERVATIONS FROM AN INDIVIDUAL WHO HAD IMPLEMENTED OUR FERTILIZER PROGRAM
**THESE RESULTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED & MAY NOT BE TYPICAL**
  1. "Our equipment costs have dropped by more than 60%. We now farm our 750 acres with on 85h.p. tractor which does 90% of the work. We used one additional 90h.p. tractor less than 25 hours to deep aerate and side-dress corn. Fuel requirements were ½ gallon per acre for planting or drilling, ½ gallon for side-dressing and 2.5 gallons per acre for harvest. Our fuel costs have dropped from $12,000 to less than $3,500 per acre.
  2. After five years in the new system, our soil is easier to work. We have less weeds and yields have increased substantially. One year we had 62 bu. Soybeans with less than $10 in chemical pesticides and 2.5 gallons of NutriGROW applied with drill equipped with squeeze pump.
  3. No-till corn planted with NutriGROW looked very good, had dark color and overcame colder soil conditions of no-till planting. In 1992, it was five weeks from corn planting until first rainfall. Corn with NutriGROW fertilizer was not stressed during the first 32 days the time when kernels are set. We could visually see the rows were NutriGROW was applied compared to non-NutriGROW fields. When NutriGROW corn was 4' tall, the rest was only 2' tall. Corn yields in the liquid program ranged from the same to 25 bu. per acre more than conventional fields.
  4. Our landlords are happy because their profits are as good as before, and their soil is getting better instead of washing down the ditches from erosion. Acquiring additional land is no problem.
  5. Net profit has increased an average from $25 to $30 each year since starting the system. These records are documented as part of the Illinois Farm Business Farm Management Service.
  6. The soil is changing. Soil life is increasing and water-holding capacity is improving. It is more like a sponge and absorbs more water in shorter periods after rainfall. Erosion is almost zero. The soil is also firmer at harvest time.
  7. Herbicide effectiveness is good with less inputs by blending them with Landoil. In general, have reduced herbicide rates from 25-50% depending on weather conditions. Chemical carry-over problems from one crop to the next are of very little concern.
  8. We now use all liquid fertilizers. We make the first application to the seed and the second application is coupled with deep aeration.
  9. All corn planting is done with 8-row 30" Kinzie planter and bean drilling is with great plains no-till drill. Both are equipped with squeeze pumps for NutriGROW fertilizer application. Burn down herbicides for soybeans are applied with a boom on back of the drill at seeding time. This cuts down labor and a trip.
  10. This system is much easier on the family because it does not require the management of many different tillage pieces of equipment. The tractor has less than 800 hours of use in four years of use, including fall cover crop seeding."
